Environmental sustainability in Tahko

PNT Active Oy / Tahko Chalet has done for decades significant work for the development of tourism in Tahko. We are active members in the Kuopio-Tahko tourism board and we want to promote local tourism as an integral part of sustainable tourism. We are a major employer in Tahko area and we support local entrepreneurship year round. Visit Finland has developed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme, designed for tourism companies and destinations in Finland. The goal is to achieve the Sustainable Travel Finland -label by 2024 #sustainabletahko.

CARBON NEUTRAL WASTE MANAGEMENT

Our latest responsibility measure is the transition to carbon neutral waste management. From the beginning of January, we have adapted our partner Lassila & Tikanoja’s Carbon Neutral Waste Management service. In practice, this means that the carbon footprint of our waste management is measured and emissions are offset through Gold Standard -certified afforestation projects. 

GOLDEN RESORT IS GREEN KEY CERTIFIED

Responsibility in Golden Resort is based on compliance with the laws and regulations set in Finland. PNT Active Oy is committed to increasing the environmental awareness of its personnel and customers, improving the efficiency of energy and water use, and reducing the environmental impact of accommodation activity. One of our establishments Golden Resort has been awarded with the Green Key eco-label. Choosing a responsible hotel supplier you are at the same time supporting sustainable tourism.

WE SAVE ENERGY AND WATER

10-20% of the energy used in Golden Resort’s main building come from solar panels. We aim to reduce our energy consumption by using LED lights, energy saving lamps and motion detection. We use the Fiksuvesi water system and water flow restrictions.

WE USE CLEAN AND TASTY INGREDIENTS

We are committed to supporting Finnish food production. By favoring domestic food industry, we promote Finnish employment and can keep enjoying clean, high-quality and safe ingredients. Finnish food is also more environmentally and climate friendly. We strive to reduce our food waste with careful planning.

WE CHOOSE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

We take care of the environment by using ecological products and methods in cleaning. We have moved mainly from paper hand towels to more ecological reusable cotton towels in our customer facilities such as restaurants. We use eco-labeled office papers and we have significantly reduced our use of copy paper.
